A high Sponsored Brands Video bid can improve auction competitiveness, but it cannot make an irrelevant or unclear ad earn clicks. Amazon notes that ad placement and final CPC depend on the auction and factors beyond the bid. When impressions rise but clicks do not, separate the auction problem from the shopper-response problem. Start with the basic funnel: CTR = Clicks / Impressions x 100 If a campaign receives 50,000 impressions and 100 clicks, CTR is 0.20%. Raising the bid may buy more of the same exposure. Before increasing it again, check whether the search term, video, product, and offer align.

1. Diagnose the campaign in four layers

Review the search-term report, not only the targeted keyword. Broad or phrase targeting can match queries with different intent. A premium product may appear for bargain-focused searches, or an accessory may appear where shoppers expect the main product. Move proven terms into controlled campaigns and negate irrelevant queries.

  • Query and product relevance
  • Opening frames

Sponsored Brands Video uses autoplay placements. The opening must communicate the product and use case quickly, even without audio. Show the product in use or show the problem it solves. Avoid a slow logo animation, long packaging shot, or abstract lifestyle sequence that delays recognition. Create a frame-by-frame test. At the first visible moment, can a shopper identify the product category? Within the next few seconds, can the shopper understand the main differentiator? On a phone-sized preview, is the product large enough to recognize?

The video does not appear in isolation. Compare price, coupon, rating, review count, delivery promise, and main-image clarity with the products surrounding the placement. A strong video can still lose the click if the offer appears materially weaker.

Amazon says Sponsored Brands ads can appear above, alongside, or within search results and on product pages. They can drive customers to a detail page or Brand Store. Evaluate results by placement and landing destination where reporting allows. A Brand Store campaign should also use new-to-brand and downstream engagement metrics, not only immediate ACOS.

  • Search-result competitiveness
  • Placement and objective

2. Run controlled creative tests

Keep the product, targeting, and landing page constant while changing one creative hypothesis. Useful tests include:

  • Product demonstration versus problem-first opening
  • One clear benefit versus multiple claims
  • Product close-up versus wider lifestyle view
  • Immediate proof point versus delayed proof point

Measure impressions, CTR, detail-page views, conversion rate, CPC, and new-to-brand performance. A creative that improves CTR but sends low-intent traffic can worsen Amazon Brand Management Blog Collection 18 conversion and ACOS. The winning version must improve the complete path, not only the first click. Do not diagnose no-click campaigns with bids alone. Bids influence access to placements. Targeting determines who sees the ad. Creative earns attention. The offer and detail page convert that attention into revenue.

3. Use a practical review sequence

First, confirm that the ad is serving on search terms that match the product and price position. Second, watch the opening frames on a phone-sized screen with the sound off. Third, compare the advertised offer with nearby results. Fourth, split performance by creative, target, placement, and landing destination where reporting permits. Change the earliest broken stage first. If relevance is weak, fix targeting before editing video. If relevance is strong but CTR is low, test the opening. If clicks are healthy but orders are weak, audit the offer and detail page. Give each test enough impressions to evaluate CTR, but also cap spend using the product’s allowable acquisition cost. Record the hypothesis and keep other variables stable. This produces a reusable creative lesson instead of another isolated video result.
